6 moisturizing lip products worth the splurge

If you read my 8 non sticky lip glosses that are worth the splurge then you know that matte lips and I have sort of been– as Ross would put it– ON A BREAK.

I feel like I’ll occasionally rock a matte lip since we’re heading towards fall (ignoring the fact that it’s 91 degrees right now LOL). Let’s be honest– matte lips were my first love. Still, I’m digging hydrating and moisturizing lip products at the moment. And, I don’t see that changing anytime soon!

6 Moisturizing Lip Products Worth the Splurge

I have been loving the Bite Beauty Agave Lip Mask for taking care of my lips and keeping them moisturized at night. As you can tell from how used and abused my tube looks, I really like it. But, it wasn’t always love at first swipe. I actually hated this lip balm when I first got it. It was hard to get out of the tube (FYI rub it between your hands during the winter to warm the product up), and it is really thick and sticky. But, I have gotten used to it and like it now. It really does moisturize the lips sans any nasty petrolatum-esque ingredients.

When it comes to lipstick, I reach for either the YSL Rouge Volupté Shine Oil-in-Stick lipstick or the Bare Minerals Pop of Passion Lip Oil Balm. Both contain oils so they’re very moisturizing on the lips. Don’t be fooled by the Bare Minerals one. It is very pigmented even though it says it’s a balm.

Another YSL lip product that is really moisturizing is their Oil-in-Tint. It’s basically a tint submerged in oils so it’s super conditioning to the lips. The Jouer lip glosses are also very conditioning and moisturizing since they contain oils like sunflower seed and castor seed to name a few. I like to keep one of their glosses with me at all times in case my lips feel dry throughout the day.

The Clarins Lip Perfectors are some cult status lip glosses that aren’t very pigmented, but are very moisturizing. I don’t like the fact that these contain mineral oil (you can read all about why I hate Vaseline/petroleum jelly based lip products here), but they do contain shea butter so it’s very comfortable and keep the lips moisturized.

    Olive & Ivy

  • I have that bareMinerals oil lip balm in shade Candy Pop but I find it to be drying on my lips. It’ll wear okay for the first hour or so and then my lips will feel parched.

  • I love the BareMinerals one! I’m getting into dark, sheer yet pigmented (if that makes sense, haha) products a lot for my everyday makeup this fall and this one looks perfect! I love the fact that it has oils in them, most lipbalms end up drying my lips, super weird!

    Cy | Dulce de Mango

    • Yes, that makes sense because it’s what I’m getting into at the moment too haha!

  • Laura

These all look like so pretty colors! I really need to try more YSL lip products x

Ah your pictures are so stunning! I found your blog through Bloglovin’ and couldn’t stop scrolling when I saw your profile. Total GOALS! Also, it’s really nice seeing you reply to every single comment. So many times I’ve clicked on another bloggers profile and wanted to comment but saw that they hadn’t bothered to reply to any so far, I end up just clicking back! Great post xx

    • Aww thank you so much. That means a lot! I also like it when people comment back so I try to comment back every time. Admittedly, I do miss some comments, but reply about 95% of the time :)

  • That Agave Lip Mask has been on my wishlist for a couple of years now but since I never finish lip balms and I have about a million I haven’t taken the plunge yet. I also really liked the sound of those YSL Tint in Oils when they were launched a while back. I almost always wear full-pigment lipsticks though so splurging on an expensive, sheer, glossy product wasn’t something I could justify, although they do look gorgeous! I do have one of the Clarins Lip Perfectors though and I really enjoy it and it’s definitely one of my favourite glosses.

    • I love the Clarins Lip Perfectors when I want something really subtle but moisturizing. I can’t get enough of the YSL Tint in Oil lippies. I used to only wear full pigmented lips, but it has been my go to ever since I started liking sheer lippies too!

  • I just heard about that Agave lip mask literally last night! Talk about law of attraction haha! I went to see my dermatologist yesterday and she wants to put me on Accutane and I’m freaking out, so scared of all the side effects. One of them are super dry, peeling lips and I’ve heard that that Agave mask is one of the best products for that, so I’m definitely getting it!

    • Oh noo!! Are you going to do it? I hear Accutane has really bad side effects too. Definitely try the Agave lip mask if you do!

I’ve never heard of a lip mask before but I love the idea of using products that will help moisture my lips. Ooooooh I wasn in NO WAY looking to add more products to my already overflowing makeup back but that sounds like it’s totally worth the splurge. Well, your headline is pretty darn acurate!
