A Little Book Haul

book haul featuring Harry Potter and the Cursed Child

Reading is something I fell in love with as a kid. I remember begging my mom to takes me to the library so I could check out books every week, and I would check out more books than I could finish. My obsession with books continues to this day, and I’m constantly buying more books before I can finish up the ones I own– oops. So here are a few books I’ve collected over the past couple months.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child

OBVIOUSLY (Snape voice) I picked this book up. Although I’m a little sad that it’s not a full on book, but more of a script book, I had to pick this up. I grew up on Harry Potter, and am so happy that I was a kid when this series was born because I can’t imagine my childhood without them. I haven’t tucked into this yet because I know I’ll stop adulting and will hide out in my room so I can read this in one go. But you know I will definitely be staying up all night sometime soon so I can devour this gracious gift queen J.K. Rowling has given us.

The Tales of Beetle the Bard

This is more of a book featuring magical fairytales with commentary from Albus Dumbledore and Hermione Granger. I am such a #potterhead so I couldn’t resist picking this up. This way I can pretend I’m not a muggle for a few more moments.

The Magic of Believing

I ordered this book in an effort to be more positive. I’ve never been a super positive person. In all honesty, I envy those people who are super positive and have a positive spirit because I aspire to be like that one day. So instead of just whining about how I want to be more like that I decided to pick up this book when I saw that it had really good reviews.

Valley of the Dolls

This is an iconic book, which was later turned into a film, from the sixties. I’ve never seen the movie, but I’ve wanted to for years now. I thought I’d read the book first since books tend to be better than their movie counterparts so I’m excited to read it. It’s supposed to be super scandalous (for the time) and is about the ascent and descent of a few women in New York that are trying to make it in the entertainment industry.

What have you been reading lately? Have you read any of these? Let me know in the comments below!

    • I’ve been hearing that, and it makes me so sad! I can understand that. Part of me wants HP to continue, but the 7 books were so perfect that I don’t want anything to taint the series.

I’ve been reading a lot of stylish books this summer:

  • I really need to pick up The Cursed Child, people’s been talking about it (good and bad) but I won’t judge it before I read it myself. I’m particularly fond of Scorpious even before this book is released ;)

    • Haha I feel the same way. I’ve heard both good and bad things as well, but want to judge it for myself. xx

  • I like the sound of The Magic of Believing and Valley of the Dolls. I’d love to hear your opinions on them when you’ve read them. :)

    • Thank you for stopping by :). I don’t think I’ll ever get over the HP series haha. it takes me right back to being a kid, and I love it. xx

  • My mom did the same thing with me! I loved library time and would check out so many books. LOL Especially during the Summer months. I’ve heard of Valley of the Dolls. I want to read that one also. Sounds like a great book. Everybody wishes the new Harry Potter book was a BOOK, instead of in script form.

    • Library time was the BEST time in my opinion. The summer was crazy. I was a reading fiend lol! Ugh, I don’t blame everyone for also wanting an HP book and not a script, but I feel like HP fans are such addicts that we’ll take anything we can get haha! xx

  • The Sunday Mode

haha the ‘obviously’ in the snape voice is honestly the best thing I’ve read all day. I haven’t read the cursed child yet either because I’ve got about a 16hour plane journey coming up so I’m saving it for that!
