The Burberry Lip & Cheek Bloom in Peony

Burberry Lip & Cheek Bloom in Peony review

Back in the day I was a strictly powder girl when it came to anything regarding makeup. I was all about the matte look and definitely spent quite a bit of time applying all things powder to my face. You could say I was caked, but not to the nines. I think the matte look was quite in back then, and I snubbed anything that contained the words “shine, luminous, glow.” Now, GIMME THE GLOW. I’m all about the sheer, glowy, vibrant, healthy look.

The Burberry Lip & Cheek Bloom in Peony

I’ll admit it, I picked this little guy up because look at that packaging. *h e a r t e y e s* But, it’s what’s on the inside that counts, and I fell in love at first swatch. The formula of this is creamy, but it’s not thick. It has some slip to it so it applies nicely and dries to a powder finish so I do think this would be great for all skin types.

It is pigmented, but it sheers out once blended so if you’ve got a heavy hand like me, it won’t look like you had your makeup done in the 80s. I have been there. Although the longevity didn’t blow me away– it lasted about 5-6 hours on its own before fading on me– I do really love wearing this on the cheeks, especially when my skin needs a pick me up (so always).

I drink a lot of water throughout the day so this only lasted a couple hours on my lips, but I’m not mad at it. It has a silky formula and adds a nice matte wash of color to the lips that looks very natural. The formula does feel a bit slippy on the lips, but I quite like that because it doesn’t dry out your lips or feel cakey. All in all, this gets two thumbs up from me!

  • This looks so pretty! I’m with you on the glowy/dewy skin thing. I used to be all about the powder and now I just want to look glowy all the time. These sound a lot like the YSL creme blushes. I used to have a bright orange one of those which was really nice but the formulation didn’t sit well on my skin. Hopefully I’ll get a chance to swatch these though. x

    • I haven’t tried any YSL creme blushes. I definitely need to try them out ;) Thanks for the recommendation!

  • That is such a pretty color. The product and formula sound quite lovely and I don’t have many cream blushes so this ones sounds perfect. Love the packaging too, so pretty! x

    • The packaging is so beautiful, but I’m glad the product is also amazing :)

  • It’s definitely quite pigmented! I like that you can have two uses for it :)

  • Going purely on looks, this reminds me of the Josie Maran blushes. I feel they should bring out more colours in this range though!

    • They definitely have a very limited color selection. I haven’t tried the JM blushes– will have to!

  • That packaging looks amazing but the price point hurts my heart a little.

  • What a lovely packaging! I usually love that kind of lip and cheek product so this sounds very interesting, I also like the sounds of its sheer finish as a lot of cream blushes tend to look heavy on the cheeks!

  • This kind of reminds me of the Josie Maron Coconut watercolour cheek gelees! The finish looks similar – kind of sheer and juicy but also a bit matte-ish?? Gorgeous nonetheless – and that packaging!

    • Someone else commented that too so I need to try the JM gelees! The packaging is everything ;P

  • This is so darn pretty and I must give it to Burberry for their classic packaging. Seriously it’s timeless.

  • The color is gorgeous!
