Skin first, makeup second. Me, last to try everything people love and rave about.

Glossier | My First Impression

I finally caved. Are you surprised? Because I certainly am not. After hearing what feels like millions of ravings and praisings (that’s not a word, but it is for now) about their products, and lusting after their cool New Yorker girl minimal aesthetic that I strive for, but am failing at, I decided to give them a try.

Even though the last thing I need is another cleanser (i.e. see my last skincare haul), I wanted to try the Milky Jelly Cleanser. After all, the name is what lured me in. Milky jelly… what are you?

Basically, it’s a gel cream cleanser that is very gentle on the skin and doesn’t strip away your natural oils or make your skin feel dry and tight. My skin feels nice and clean afterwards, but not squeaky clean– it’s a good thing!

It contains some key ingredients like:

  • Poloxamer, a cleansing agent used in contact lens solution so it’s very gentle on the skin
  • Rosewater, soothes, hydrates, and refreshes the skin
  • Comfrey root extract, which contains allantoin to help prevent stress on skin
  • Aquaxyl, hydrates the skin and limits water loss so your skin retains its moisture
  • Pro-vitamin B5, a powerful natural moisturizer.

This is rose scented because of the rosewater, but the one thing I don’t like about it is the slight chemical under note you get. It smells like rose, but then I get a weird whiff of something chemical. I even asked my sister, and she noticed it too. So, not a huge fan of the scent, but it is a nice cleanser! I will throw in that I still prefer my Boscia Purifying Cleansing Gel, but this is less expensive and still a nice one. I’m hoping I’ll fall in love with it more as I continue to use it.

Next up, the Boy Brow

I love this stuff. If you like a bit of a tint, despise eyebrow hair stiffness, and want your brow to look groomed, but still natural, give this a try. The wand is super tiny so application is easy and mess free, and this keeps your eyebrows in place without making them look like plastic. I used the darkest shade, Black, and find it to be perfect for my brows. Several of the dark eyebrow products I have used have a grey tone to them, which ends up making my eyebrows look ashy– not cute, folks. Not cute.

Overall, I’m a fan of both products, but the Boy Brow is my favorite of the two. I definitely need to try out more of their products both skincare and makeup.

Welcome to the repertoire, Glossier. I’d like a second helping, please.

p.s. I think they’re going to start shipping internationally because I noticed that my cleanser has French (?) on the bottle now. Perhaps they’re shipping to our friends up north soon!

  • These sounds lovely! I really want to try the Milky Jelly Cleanser as I too have heard all the “ravings and praising” (LOL). I’m just patiently waiting until they offer shipping to Canada. Please do an in-depth review later on? :)

    Nicole | The Glam Surge

    • I feel like they’re going to start international shipping soon! I will definitely do a full review :)

  • I love the sound of Glossier products, need to try them out!

  • Gorgeous photos, as always! I actually did not like the milky jelly cleanser, I didn’t feel like it really got everything off my face and even in the mornings it just felt like I was putting cooling gel on my face with no real outcome. I think because my skin is a certain type and needing specific needs, I have to be really picky with what I use. I know everybody raves about these two products especially, so feel a bit left out that it didn’t work for me haha

    • I totally understand that feeling haha! The Milky Jelly Cleanser definitely doesn’t take off all of my makeup in one go so that is quite unfortunate!

  • I have been hearing so much about glossier but I haven’t tried anything out. The boy brow sounds really nice, I’ll have to place an order soon!

    Perfect Shade of Mauve

    • I hope you do :). They’re out of a couple things I want so I’ve been patiently waiting for a while now lol.

  • I keep wondering whether or not I should try Glossier as, even though there are more good reviews than bad ones on the internet, it is also a trendy brand and I’m always very skeptical about these, the boy brow sounds really great though! Thanks for the reviews :)

    • I definitely understand that! Trendy brands can be a let down sometimes. The Milky Jelly Cleanser didn’t wow me the way I thought it would considering how many people love it.

  • This brand has been on my radar for awhile now, but I still haven’t tried anything. I think I should try Boy Brow, “groomed, but still natural” is exactly what I’m looking for right now!

    • yes! The Boy Brow is just perfect on no makeup makeup days. Really love it :)

  • I know many are really into this brand but I have never been interested…mainly because it’s hard for me to get my hands on them here in Canada.

    Shireen | Reflection of Sanity

    • Ah yes! I think they’re going to start shipping there soon though :)

  • I’ve wanted to try these products but they aren’t availble to ship to NZ just yet so I guess I’ll have to wait a bit longer!

Gorgeous photos lovely, I wish Glossier was a bit easier to get hold of in the UK! I need a new brow gel product so would love to try Boy Brow. (Ps I figured out what I was doing wrong in your photoshop marble tutorial – I was just clicking on levels in Adjustments so that was dumb haha, it worked beautifully once I rectified it!)

    • Haha I’m glad it worked!!

Thank you :). Hopefully they start shipping to the UK soon!

  • I want to try Glossier so bad! Don’t think I’ve heard a bad word about it!

Okay that milk jelly cleanser sounds LIFE CHANGING I don’t know why the words ‘milk’ and ‘jelly’ make me think i’ll love it haha.

  • I would love to try Glossier, but I can’t find any place that sells it :( I wish the products that are easily available in the US would be available in Europe too :( x

    Ela BellaWorld

  • I’ve not heard this brand at all, but would love to try it!

    Georgia | The Weekend Attic

    • It’s SO popular in the states. Literally everyone talks about it here!

  • I have heard about the brand a lot recently, I really hope they start shipping internationally, I am sure I won’t be able to resist! I like how milk jelly cleanser sounds but slightly disappointed its just like a gel cream cleanser! I like the brands philosophy promoting simple beauty, definitely a brand to watch out for!

    Have a great week!

Boy Brow is definitely one of my favorite products ever! I even have a backup of it now so that I never run out. I still use a brow pencil to fix my brow shape, but Boy Brow is definitely a must for every day brows.
