Laura Geller Ballerina vs Becca Rose Gold

Laura Geller highlighters have been gaining a lot of popularity lately, and I’m a highlighter junkie so you knew I’d be all over that. I picked up the shade Ballerina, which is a light peachy rose gold shade. I heard this shade was very similar to the Becca Rose Gold highlighter, which I already had (#highlighterjunkie anyone?), so I thought I would compare the two and really see if they’re dupes for one another.

On my skin, Becca Rose Gold is much deeper in tone than Laura Geller’s Ballerina. I would say Rose Gold is much more gold, almost copper, while Ballerina is a lot lighter and seems to be more of a rose toned champagne peach.

Both highlighters are very smooth and silky powders. Both are very intense and pigmented with just one swipe. I feel as though Rose Gold is just a tad smoother, but that may just be because Ballerina has a swirled texture to it.

The Overview |

They’re definitely not dupes on my skin. I can’t pick just one because both are great highlighters. I think Ballerina would be more universally flattering since it’s lighter so it will flatter fair to deep skin tones. Rose Gold is deeper so it can be used as a highlighter/blush for lighter skin tones and as a highlighter/blush topper for deeper skin tones. Personally, I love both, and if you’re a highlighter junkie then you’ll probably want both as well :P.

Have you tried either of these highlighters? Which one do you prefer? Let me know in the comments below!

  • Thanks for the swatches! I have a mini size of the Rose Gold highlighter but since they’re not very similar with Ballerina I’m deff getting it :)

  • I think Becca Rose Gold would be more of a blushy-highlight for me! I do really want to try the formula though. Same goes for the Laura Geller – tossing up between this and the gilded honey shade, both are so gorgeous!

    • Gilded Honey is very gorgeous! I actually went to purchase that one, but they were out of it so I purchased Ballerina instead :). You won’t be disappointed with either LG or Becca highlighter!

  • The Laura Geller highlighter is beautiful! I picked up one of the Laura Geller blushes at BeautyCon back in June, and love the quality. I’ll definitely need to look into the highlighters too, I’ve heard such great things!

Just found your blog through IG and I’m loving it so far!

    • Aww thank you so much!

I haven’t tried the blushes, but I’ve been hearing really good things about them so I think I’ll have to pick one up :)
      xx

  • Drooling over everything on your blog! Both of these are stunning and it was helpful to see them swatched together – I don’t tend to go for more pink-toned highlighters but actually these would be really nice on the cheekbones. I recently ordered the Gilded Honey shade from Laura Geller, can’t wait for it to arrive! xx

    • Thank you!! :)

I think Ballerina is more of a conventional highlighter for everyone because it’s just slightly rose toned, but still really champagne/gold so it’s still so pretty!
I can’t wait to hear your thoughts on Gilded Honey. I want that shade!
