For being a self proclaimed makeup junkie, I’m always late to the makeup loving party, and by that I mean I’m literally the last person to purchase the products everyone raves about for years (i.e. Makeup Geek eyeshadows and NARS Audacious lipsticks, which I still haven’t tried out -__-). Alas, I finally gave in and ordered a few things from the MUG site so a Makeup Geek haul + first impressions were definitely in order.
First Impressions |
Grandstand, a rose gold, and In the Spotlight, a soft pink with coral undertones, are both pigmented, apply beautifully on the eyes, and are so soft and buttery. Plus, they’re talc and paraben free. I can understand the hype!
Half Hearted is supposed to be for medium warm skin tones, but it is pretty dark. I wish I had gotten one shade lighter because I personally like something that’s not so dark and warm for contouring. The powders are vegan, talc and paraben free so they are even great for sensitive skin types. The powder itself is very pigmented, soft and blends out easily, which is essential for a contour powder. If you’re looking for a contour powder that isn’t so dark and you have a medium yellow tone skin like mine (aka MAC NC35/40), I would suggest trying out Bad Habit, which is for warm fair skin tones, instead.
Sugarpill’s Penelope is a loose glittery eyeshadow that will satisfy any metallic coppery eyeshadow lover. Beware: don’t have a WTF moment like I did when you open this. The ingredients in this shade settle more than others, which is why it looks half empty, but it’s not. I haven’t worn this on the eyes yet, but I’ve swatched it and my goodness.. if you love a foiled coppery metallic eye, you NEED this.
