The “Help, I Overslept” Beauty Essentials

I’ve been a night owl since I was a kid. I remember being around 6 or 7, laying awake in bed at night because I just could not sleep and loved the night so much (even though I was afraid of the dark). When my parents would come check on my sister and I, my sister would be fast asleep, but there I was, wide eyed, staring at them, not a wink of sleep in my eye. Occasionally on these nights my parents would let me sneak out of bed, my sister still sound asleep and completely clueless. The three of us would pop some popcorn, put on a movie, and watch it until I fell asleep. Ah, nostalgia..

Because I love staying up, and have a hard time falling asleep at times, I oversleep and hit that snooze button a few too many times so I’m left trying to get ready in a rush. For those mornings, these are the “help, I overslept” beauty essentials I turn to.

Bumble and Bumble Pret-a-Powder and Anese Body/Hair Elixirs… for when you don’t have time to wash your hair/shower in the morning (it happens to the best of us).

Complex Beauty Afterglow complexion mist… for a super quick skin pick me up that will brighten your dull, freshen up your skin, and prep it for makeup.

Hourglass Vanish Foundation Stick… for a quick base that blends quickly, offers full coverage & doubles as concealer.

Glossier Haloscope… for a beautiful glow that you can use on the tops of the cheeks, on the inner eyes to brighten them up or all over the lids for a wash of glistening color.

Burberry Lip & Cheek Bloom or Becca Beach Tint… for a quick flush of color on the lips and cheeks.

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Bronzer… for adding some dimension back into the face. It lets you skip the highlight if you’re super low on time by giving your skin some luminosity and doubles as an eyeshadow.

Benefit Roller Lash… for long, lifted lashes minus the eyelash curler.

Glossier boy brow... for quick, naturally groomed brows in a jiffy.

  • It seems I’m always getting ready in a rush so I really need to check some of these out lol. That bumble & bumble powder has been on my wish list for quite some time! Does it add any volume to your hair or is it like a normal dry shampoo?

    Mili | Sharmtoaster

    • Haha I hope you do! It adds volume too, which is nice because my limp hair needs it lol.

  • This is a great post! I’m super guilty of hitting the snooze button way too many times, haha. Def need to try some of these :)

  • If I oversleep or am just feeling lazy, at the very least I need concealer under the eyes, a little powder on the face, blush, brows and mascara. It still takes me way longer than I’d like it to so I’ll still be late anyway lol

  • Roller Lash is my go-to when I’m late as well, I work so quickly with it. I haven’t tried Boy Brow but I use GimmeBrow by Benefit so I guess we’re still in the same page :) x

  • I have always been a night owl as well! Guilty of staying up until really early in the morning and end up oversleeping way more than I should. The night is just much more calm and quiet. I have actually been interested in the Becca beach tint in the past, but I don’t see many reviews on it. Would you say that it blends really easily? I’m always worried liquid/cream blushes will get patchy and lift up my foundation. I’ve also considered the Hourglass bronzers before, especially since I love my highlighter I have from them. Great post ^__^

    • The night really is much more calm and quiet. But, I’ve discovered that falling asleep early, and then waking up at 4-5 is really nice too lol. Love the HG bronzer! I do love the Beach Tints and find them to blend easily. I make sure to apply it before my foundation sets and they don’t make my makeup look patchy. I love them on the lips too!

  • Lovely post! I wish we could get Glossier here in the UK, it looks beautiful! xo

    Love, Catherine

    • I hope you can too! I think they’re going to start offering international shipping soon.

  • I have the exact same issue: because I struggle to fall asleep in the evening, I struggle to wake up in the morning, where most people feel the tiredness in the evening, I feel it in the morning! I definitely want to try the Glossier Boy Brow as well as the Hourglass Vanish Foundation stick!

  • My brows themselves need at least 5-10 minutes so there’s no way I can rush through my makeup. LOL! I do love using multipurpose products whenever I am in a rush and I usually tie my hair up in a bun when I’m short of time.

  • Lovely post! The Glossier Boy Brow sounds amazing, I love a good brow gel!! x

    • Do you think the TF blushes are worth the money? They look beautiful.

  • I definitely find myself in a rush during the mornings in the winter because I just want to stay in bed all day! Brow gel makes such a difference when I want to look put-together without the effort. I’ve been meaning to grab Boy Brow for ever. Great picks!

    • Haha yes! So much harder to get out of bed when you’re nice and cozy and warm.

  • Natalie Redman

I definitely need this everyday….every morning is a ‘help, I overslept’ moment!
