Two Drugstore Highlighters That Are Out Of This World

I’m not an adventurous person. That’s probably why my (self proclaimed) nickname is Neutral Nida. But, sometimes, a girl needs to switch things up. Variety is the spice of life, you know? Enter two new-to-me drugstore highlighters that will give you a unique, Zenon: Girl of the 21st Century-esque glow. And I’m spacing out over it. Major.

Since I knew the Moon Child Glow Kit from Anastasia Beverly Hills would just sit around in my collection looking pretty, but never get used, I decided to save the $40 and pick these two highlighters up instead. They may not be complete dupes, but they’re on that “moonchild” level, and they’re inexpensive.

NYX Twilight Tint is a pale white duochrome highlighter that has an icy periwinkle shift depending on the light. It gives the most gorgeous glow that is still wearable. For every day, I do have to use this with a light hand so it still looks a bit natural, and not too out there, but you can easily pack it on for more intensity. From the swatches I’ve seen of the ABH Glow Kit, it looks as though it could be a dupe of Blue Ice.

Makeup Revolution highlighters are some of my favorite drugstore highlighters. I’m happy to report that the shade Holographic Lights is no exception, and it’s a stunning metallic shade with goldish-green shimmer. It reminds me of ABH Lucky Clover because of the slight green tone to it.

Both of these are super inexpensive alternatives/ dupes to a couple shades in the Anastasia Beverly Hills Moonchild Glow Kit. I find these two to be very wearable, which is why I picked them up, and that’s also why I skipped on the palette. Some of the darker shades would just sit around never getting used (even though they’re so pretty) so why not pick up two alternatives? But seriously though… I still want Moonchild.

Ahh I can’t justify any more Glow Kits so this post is perfect for me. I especially love the look of the NYX one! – Amy

  • Wow those look amazing and I love the look of the NYX one.

    Lauren x Huggled

  • Omg both of these are so pretty. Gimme that alien glow XD I already have the moonchild palette but I’m still so tempted to buy some of the nyx duo chrome highlighters lol.

  • Wow these are beautiful! These definitely look like great dupes of Moonchild! I love the alien glow, but it’s nice to have a cheaper alternative since this kind of highlight is probably more of a fad.

  • I literally love Makeup Revolution more than anything ever! It’s like THE best budget brand evuuuur. To be honest, nyx is really good too!

  • I love Makeup Revolution, it’s one of the best brands that I’ve ever come across, and each time I order from their website, there’s always so much to get that I can never get my fill! I love, love, love their highlighters, and if you haven’t tried their Radiant highlighter in Breathe, you’re missing out! It’s purported as a dupe for Hourglass Ambient Light Powder in Dim Light, and I have to agree – just amazing!

I’m too much of a coward to try anything other than a neutral beige/pale gold/champagne highlight, but the blue and green shifts do look rather awesome :)

    Stephii Mattea xx

  • I have a Make-up Revolution highlighter and it’s gorgeous! I also love how bright their eyeshadows are.

  • I need NYX Twilight so bad xx

  • Even though I will be more likely to use these on my lids rather than my cheeks, I really like both of them and I also really like to witness how much highlighters have changed throughout the last past two years, it seems like nobody is afraid to create more daring shades, even drugstore brands!

  • I’ve been looking for a something with blueish tint so I think I’ll be picking up that NYX one. Thanks for the swatches, massively helpful.
Im not sure I’m a fan of Makeup revolution, picked up a highlighter but just seemed really flat. Maybe Im just picking the wrong ones! :D

  • Katie

So pretty! I love photos of the Moonchild glow kit for artistic purposes but I wouldn’t spend the money on it, the Nyx option would be much better for the bank account! x

  • I love your nickname ;) hahaha! The Makeup Revolution one looks lovely…I really need to try more from the brand xxx
    Sal | UmmBabyBeauty

  • Same! I want Moonchild but I know I won’t get any use out of it. I mean I wore Champagne Pop again last week after a long departure and holy cow, I find it to be super intense and wondered how the feck I wore it out of the house in the past?!

    Shireen | Reflection of Sanity

  • Ooo nice finds! I’ve been loving that ‘alien glow’ haha. I love the look of the NYX one! I must check it out!

    Nicole | The Glam Surge

  • Wow, what a good discovery! Thanks so much for sharing – I need to check out NYX!

    Naya //

  • Ooh these are so pretty and super unique to any kind of highlighters in my collection. Need to see if I can get my hands on the NYX option here in the UK x

    Beauty with charm

  • I actually saw the NYX Twilight Tint the other day but didn’t grab it because I had no idea what it would be like! I opted for purchasing a Colourpop one instead but I’d definitely love to check the NYX one out!

  • Twilight Tint looks so pretty!

    Lauren Ashleigh xx

  • Oooh these are so pretty and also such a bargain! I am a sucker for a good highlighter but hate paying over the odds so these look like they would be a great alternative for me :) x

  • Omg the NYX Twilight Tint looks stunning! I’ve been searching for a highlighter with a slightly blue and this looks perfect. I was thinking about getting the Milk Makeup Holographic Stick but I prefer powder highlighter more. Thank you so much for sharing this!

    Jenny // Geeky Posh

  • I have a make up revolution highlighter that I have yet to try (and review) and I’m super excited to dig in, cause I hear so many good things about their products! Beats splurging over $20 for a highlighter at Sephora~~

  • I’m more into neutral colored highlighters, but these do look beautiful! It definitely makes sense to try out single drugstore versions if you know you wouldn’t use the whole other palette. Thanks for sharing!

    Kathryn •

  • These look so good! I don’t usually wear highlighters because I struggle to find the right pigmented one but these look amazing!

    x Annabelle

  • Wow these are beautiful! These really do look like great dupes of Moonchild! I’m not into these color highlighters but it’s great that there are more affordable ones out there. Love the pigmentation too. x

    Ann-Marie |

  • Twilight Tint looks absolutely beautiful! x

  • I should defo check out the Nyx highlighter! Thanks for the tip ;)
I love your blog, btw! the photography is stunning! I followed you on twitter to keep up to date x

  • Wow I need these highlighters – I want to try the Sleek highlighter palettes but for drugstore you should give MUA Undressed ones a try only £3!!
