25 Things I Love

Well, it’s official. I’m 25 years old today.

On this day in 1992, “I’m Too Sexy” by Right Said Fred was the most popular song, and of course that describes me to a T (or should I say tee? ;))

25 Things I Love

Being more positive and thankful are two of my goals this year so let’s talk about 25 things I love, and tell me some things you love too.

My fam + friends + fur babies

Of course I had to give a shoutout to my fam and friends. My family and I aren’t the super closest, and we still butt heads a lot, but they’re family; they always have your back, and you should have theirs too. And, I love my friends who help keep me sane, and just get me. Now that we’ve all graduated college, work, and don’t live super close, it makes things hard. But, I love those friendships where you don’t have to talk all the time, months can go by without speaking, but you always pick up right where you left off, and things are never awkward.

Fur babies are the best! I love any and all furry animals. I especially love watching videos of cute baby animals being their adorable selves. Have you see the baby donkey swinging in a hammock? Literally what I aspire to be..

I have 3 dogs, and I love them all to pieces. You know when you love someone/something so much that you just want to eat them? That’s basically me with my dogs. If you don’t ever feel that way… well… I promise, I’m not totally weird.  My youngest baby, who is also the largest, has the goofiest and peppiest personality ever. She’s always jolly, and she loves staring out the window. If she was a person, Rear Window would have been her life.

Leonardo Dicaprio

Of course I had to give a shout out to the first man I ever had feelings for– Jack Dawson. My parents took me to see Titanic in theaters (I think on opening night) when I was 5 years old because they couldn’t find a babysitter. And boy am I glad they did. I still remember that the movie was p a c k e d. Literally everyone came to see this movie, which is probably why they couldn’t find a sitter.

The sound of rain at night

The sound of rain, especially at night, make me so happy. It reminds me of being a kid in Seattle. If you hadn’t heard, it rains a lot there, and I loved laying in bed at night and listening to the soft drizzle. When it rains it Dallas, it usually pours, and we have pretty intense thunderstorms. They can get a little crazy with golf ball sized hail at times, but I still love a good thunderstorm too, minus the hail.

Waking up really early and watching YouTube videos

When I got back from my London and Paris trip a few years ago, I would always fall asleep around 8 PM and then wake up around 4 because of the jet lag. Instead of waking up and being productive, I would usually grab my iPad and watch YouTube videos in bed. I still occasionally love waking up super early so I can watch some videos in bed. It’s always so calm and serene really early in the morning.

Going for a walk on cloudy cool days

You’re probably eye rolling away because here I am, talking about how much I love cool, cloudy weather again. But, seriously. Going for a walk when it’s cool and cloudy is the best. That cool, brisk breeze.. what’s not to love?

Sleeping on the bed diagonally

Yes, diagonally. No, not Diagon Alley (please tell me you get this reference?) I don’t have a S.O. plus I live at home so I can’t really have a guy spending the night, which means I get the whole damn bed to myself, and I love it. I actually really hate sleeping next to people, and prefer sleeping alone (sorry, Drake). When I’m feeling adventurous, I like to sleep diagonally with my head toward the foot of the bed. Weird, but very comfortable.

Harry Potter

Speaking of Harry Potter.. I’m currently listening to a Harry Potter audiobook as I write this. I don’t care how old I get or how lame it might seem to others, but I will always love Harry Potter. Give it to me as a book, give it to me as a movie, and even give it to me as an audiobook. I love it. Harry Potter movie marathon weekends are my favorite kind of weekends.

The Obamas

Political viewpoints aside, you have to admit The Obamas are some awesome people. Barack seems like such a cool guy, and Michelle is so fierce and empowering. I love their relationship, and have you seen those pics of Barack meeting little kids? It’s the cutest thing ever.

Finishing a book

I was that kid begging my mom for money when the yearly book fair at school came around. I was always snooping through the different books and buying way too many because I’ve always loved reading. I don’t have that much time to read anymore so finishing a book feels euphoric. The goal is to start reading more so I can finish at least one book a month.

Visiting new places

I love to travel, but I really don’t do it as often as I’d like. My favorite places I’ve traveled to are Istanbul, Paris, Dubai, and London. I desperately want to go back to each city. It’s especially been a long time since I’ve been to Dubai. I went there as a kid a few times, but that was when it was more desert than city.

Taking care of my skin

I’ve really fallen in love with skincare within the past year, but I’ve always tried to take care of my skin since I was a teen. There were several times in college when my friends would crash at my apartment after a night out. We would come home late, and they’d pass out real quick, but there I was, 3 or 4 am, sitting in my bathroom (usually on the floor) making sure to brush my teeth, remove my makeup, tone, apply eye cream, and moisturize. The feeling of clean skin after a long day is so amazing.

Late night drives without traffic

I’ve had to make a one hour drive home at 3 or 4 AM on several occasions, and let me tell you, long drives when no one else is really on the road is kind of a blast. You can just turn up the music and drive; it’s so relaxing.

Putting on my pjs

After a long day, there’s really nothing better than taking off your clothes and putting on some cozy pajamas. Is there?

The 1990s aka the greatest decade of them all

I will always love all things 90s. Probably because that’s when I grew up, and everything is better when you’re a little kid. But, I love 90s movies, shows, music, and even the fashion and makeup (sometimes) . I like to think that back in the day, when I didn’t know how to properly put on eyeliner, my makeup was more heroin chic instead of raccoon eyes. But, I’m pretty sure it was just raccoon eyes.

The smell of cold air

Breathing in the cool, brisk air is such a good feeling. I love the way it just instantly relaxes and calms my mind.

Fuzzy socks (especially when it’s cold out)

My sock drawer is 80% fuzzy socks and 20% regular socks. Because why wear regular socks when you can wear fuzzy/cozy ones?

Finding new holy grail beauty products

I love testing out new products, but I especially love it when I find something that just works– something that I constantly need in my collection. It makes your makeup and skincare routine just a little more fun once you’ve found “the one.” [See some of my holy grails here]

New technology

I’m not a super tech junkie. Well, I would be if I had a lot more money, but new technology makes me so happy. Technology changes at such a rapid pace that it’s hard to keep up, but I love upgrading to newer products, and the hoarder in me loves keeping my old tech items too. My first ever cell phone, a Motorola flip phone that my dad got me in 8th grade, is still lounging around in a drawer next to my Sidekick and Blackberry Curve. Yup. Never letting go, Jack.

Reorganizing my makeup stash

As unorganized as I am, I do love to organize things and make sure they have a home. Now, getting them back to their designated space after I’ve used them is another story, but my favorite thing to organize is my makeup collection. It’s always nice to have your makeup all in one place so you can grab and go. Plus, it’s so pretty to look at when it’s nice and neat.

Boy scented candles

There is a brand called Boyfriend Candles that I’m dying to try because I love the smell of boys. I know that sounds weird and creepy, but I love that manly cologne scent. There was a candle from Bath and Body Works that I was obsessed with in college. I think it’s Mahogany Teakwood, but it smells so good. I also really want to try the Boy Smells candles. Okay, I’ll stop..

Making new blog friends

I never really knew what would come from blogging, and I’ll be honest that I didn’t really know what I was doing a couple years ago when I started. I like to think I’ve come a long way, learned a lot, and that I’ve made some genuine friends. It’s always nice to meet new people, and I’m happy to say that I’ve met some amazing girls through blogging that I would definitely want to hang out with IRL.

Working on my photography

Seriously though, I had no idea what I was doing when I first started blogging, and photography was one of my main frustrations. I bought a DSLR like everyone on the internet advised me to, but my photos did not magically become better. Now, I’m always trying to better my pictures because I love taking product photos. I never thought I’d one day be content with my photos, and actually like them. In fact, I used to shed tears all the time because they were just plain old ugly, and not what I wanted. But, I’ve finally found my aesthetic and what I like, which makes things easier. Plus. it’s always nice to see how far you’ve come.

TV show binges marathons

My last TV show marathon was A Series of Unfortunate Events on Netflix. I finished it in two days (hey, it’s only 8 episodes), and it reminded me how much I miss being able to turn off all my electronics, and just watch a good show without any distractions.

Nasty women

The most positive thing that has come out of this whole Trump becoming President debacle (aka the real American horror story) is the “nasty women” movement. I love seeing girls supporting girls, and guys supporting girls. I think we need more of it. I love that so many women (and men) are speaking up, and fighting against all the patriarchal bullshit we have to endure. It’s so important. I could honestly go on and on about this, but just know, I’m a nasty woman too.

Tell me some things you love! Let me know in the comments below!
