A red color corrector? Sounds weird, but it works.
The Becca Backlight Targeted Color Corrector in Papaya is a new product offering from their new color correcting range, and after trying their Under Eye Brightening Corrector and falling in love with it, I decided to give their color corrector in Papaya a go.
The Good |
- Pigmented
- Blendable
- Subtle luminosity
- Easy to cover
The Bad |
- Doesn’t fit everyone’s budget ($30)
- Packaging isn’t great for people with long nails
Papaya is more of an orangey red shade and it’s great for neutralizing deep blues and greens for tan to deep bronze skin tones. Although I have a medium skin tone, I wanted to give this one a shot because I have all the other shades they carry, but from different brands.
The formula of this is creamy, not thick, slightly tacky, and blends easily. I personally like to apply it with my finger to warm it up and then finish blending it out with a Beauty Blender. I like using this under the eyes because there is also a subtle luminosity to it, which brightens a bit. It goes really well under makeup because it’s slightly tacky and your concealer will stick to it nicely. It doesn’t cake up, but it will cause creasing if you don’t set your concealer on top with a powder.
Even though Papaya is targeted toward deeper complexions, I find that it still works and is easy to cover up with concealer without any redness peeking through.
I like the packaging, it’s beautiful, but the only downside to it is that it’s hard to pick up product with your finger if you have long nails. I haven’t found a brush I like to use with this, which is why I prefer applying it with my finger, but it is hard since I have long nails.

The Verdict |
I really like this corrector for under the eyes because it does neutralize any darkness. I like the formula because it’s thin, and wears well under makeup without making your under eyes look thick or cakey. It is quite pricey, but if you struggle with darkness under the eyes or around the face then a corrector will help neutralize it for a flawless complexion.
