I’m always wary to try new haircare simply because my hair seems to be the high maintenance, yet low maintenance, type. Because my hair is thick, long, and I have a lot of it, shampoo can be hard to wash out if it doesn’t lather up just enough. On top of that, I suffer from mild dandruff, an easily irritated scalp. At the same time, I don’t do a lot to my hair because too much product can cause greasiness as well as flatness since my hair is already heavy so more product = more weight leading to flatness. Long story short, I tried the Pai Shau shampoo and conditioner, and luckily enjoyed both. The scent of both is pleasant, very salon like, and the shampoo is silky, lathers just enough, and washes out nicely, leaving the hair fresh and clean. The conditioner is also silky and made the ends of my hair very soft and tangle free. No scalp irritation, no sulfates, no product residue left behind. I’m happy.

Testing out new makeup on a night you’re actually doing things can be a precarious decision. But all life is a game of luck, you know? I applied the NARS Soft Matte Concealer with my fingers under the eyes, dabbed a little on some blemish scars on my cheek, and set the under eyes with my go to NYX Banana powder. It creased a little under the eyes, but that always happens because under eyes have fine lines. Post pimple pigmentation was covered without being heavy or cakey. Luckily, this precarious decision worked in my favor.

January 8, 2018:

For the first time in a while, I woke up early and showered in the morning instead of showering the night before. I love the smell of Glossier’s Body Hero Body Moisturizer, but I only really like to use it during the day or when I’m going out. I never apply it at night after showering because it contains mica, and I don’t want to apply shimmer after just attempting to get squeaky clean. But, morning showers are different. Bring on the Body Hero, except this time I’ll be mixing in The Ordinary’s Squalane Oil. Both of these are products I’ve used in the past, but never together. I squeeze some moisturizer, add a few drops of squalane oil, mix in the palm of my hands and apply to the rest of my body, which is v dry right now. The oil definitely boosted up the moisturizing level of Body Hero. I’m a fan. This is a great concoction to try if Body Hero just isn’t quite hitting that “I’m-moisturized-enough” spot this winter.

A new Drunk Elephant launch always perks my little elephant ears up, especially when the word peptide is included. Super excited to introduce my skin to something new and full of peptides and amino acids, I pushed down on the pump, eagerly swiped up some product, ooh-ed and aah-ed at the silky consistency, pumped some more, and then gently pressed it into my skin. The soft and silky luxurious consistency melted away into the skin, felt lightweight and refreshing, and didn’t feel heavy or greasy. So far? Impressed.

The Glossier Solution is here so you know I have to try it out. I’ve been anticipating this launch for a while now, and I’m so so glad it’s finally here and that I can finally test it out. This girl loves her acids so color me ecstatic. I flip the Glossier Solution cap open, push down on the pump with my fave Shiseido cotton pad, saturate it, and sweep it on my skin. No tingling occurs (again, I’m used to acids so this could be why) and afterwards my skin is refreshed and glowy. So far? I’m a fan.

What are some new things you’ve tried? Let me know in the comments below!
