Beauty Products I Loved in 2016

So narrowing these products down was a bit of a doozy because there are so many things I really really like, but these are the go to’s I couldn’t live without and would instantly repurchase if they deserted me. Grab a drink, my friends. This is going to be a long one, but I’m going to try and keep things quick and snappy.

Skincare was a huge thing for me in 2016, especially the last 6 months. The cleanser that stands above the rest is the Boscia Purifying Cleansing GelI love the gel consistency and how it leaves my skin clean, but not stripped. Complex Beauty is another skincare find that has really helped my skin out the past couple months. Their Rose Glow glycolic mask and Afterglow complexion mist are two that instantly perk up my skin. And their Thirst Quencher hydra mask is a savior if you’re suffering from dry skin. When it comes to moisturizing the face, I love the Origins Night-A-Mins Cream and for lips, the Bite Beauty Agave Lip Mask is super well loved as you can see from the dingy tube.

You know I love priming and prepping the skin on days I’m serious about wearing makeup. That’s when the Marc Jacobs Undercover Perfecting Coconut Primer and Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Face Base come into play. Both are hydrating and make the skin very soft and smooth– perfect for makeup application.

For foundation, I hands down give it to the Hourglass Vanish Foundation StickIt blends like butter, has amazing coverage for the days your skin isn’t looking it’s best, yet it still looks natural. Caked, but to the nines.

On the cheeks, I love the Jouer bronzer in Suntan* because it’s matte, and gives the skin that perfect sunkissed look. The Marc Jacobs Airblush in Flesh & Fantasy is newer to my collection, but I’m going to need like all of them. It’s my go to neutral shade. When I want more color and luminosity I turn to Hourglass Diffused Heat

You already know that highlight is my favorite part of makeup so I have a few I regularly turn to like Becca Opal. Give it to me poured, pressed or liquid, I’m all in. Or, Make Up For Ever Pro Light Fusion in Golden. But, I’m deeply in love with both the Anastasia Beverly Hills Sun Dipped Glow Kit and Hourglass Euphoric Strobe Light.

Back in the day I was all about smokey black– dare I say, raccoon– eyes, but now I’m kind of a natural lid kinda girl. But, when I want some sparkle, ColourPop On The Rocks has been a staple along with Makeup Geek In The Spotlight

I’m not super adventurous when it comes to brows because I already have thick caterpillars to deal with, and don’t need to add too much to fill them in. Hence why I love the Glossier Boy Brow so much. It fills in the sparse areas, sets the brows, and makes them look groomed, but still natural. Lash wise, hands down my love goes to the Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara since it makes my lashes super fluttery, long and voluminous. For the bottom lashes, I love the MAC Studio Sculpt Lash for long and wispy lashes.

You could say that glossy lips are sort of my new thing, and my favorite gloss is the Marc Jacobs Enamored Lip GlossI have the shade Hey You, but I definitely want to pick up some other more neutral shades. Honestly, things have been a tad bit boring in the lipstick department this year for me (shocking, I know!) as I’ve stuck to lots of old favorites, but my favorite natural lipstick I discovered this year is YSL’s Rouge Volupte Shine 47 Beige BlouseMy go to matte liquid lipsticks are the Jouer Lip Creme’s*. They’re super comfortable on the lips, and I personally really love Dulce de Leche, Cassis, Brique, and Cerise.

For smells, I’ve been loving my Chanel Coco Mademoiselleand I just recently spoke about 4 new perfume additions that are also getting a good spritz every now and again because they smell uhh-mazing. When it comes to hair, I’m kind of a dud. I don’t really do much to my hair because 1, I’m crap at it, and 2, too much product weighs my hair down, which already needs loads of help in the volume department– recommendations for volumizing products, anyone? The one thing I have been loving is the Bumble and Bumble Pret-a-PowderIt’s the only dry shampoo I’ve tried that works for me and doesn’t make my hair even greasier plus it does add a bit more volume, which is always welcome.

So that’s all for my 2016 beauty favorites. If you made it this far, I certainly applaud you because that was v long! I hope everyone has been having a great start to the new year. Wishing all of you the best!
