An Easy Thanksgiving Makeup Tutorial

It’s that time of year again (if you live in America): Thanksgiving! Next week we will be sitting around the table with our friends and family, inhaling the food before us. So, naturally, you want to look attractive while you scarf down some mashed potatoes and stuffing because who cares about the actual turkey, am I right?

If you do not celebrate Thanksgiving, this is still a festive holiday look that you can wear out and about this season!

Step 1| Begin by filling in your eyebrows and priming your eyelids. For the brows I used an eyebrow pencil from The Face Shop. On the eyelids I used the Painterly paint pot from MAC, which prevents creasing and evens out the skin tone, making eye shadows appear brighter.

Step 2| Then grab a warm brown shade and apply it into the crease and blend out with a fluffy brush. This will be your transition shade that will make your eyeshadow look more blended and subtle. I used Brown Script from MAC.

Step 3| On the lid I applied Honey Lust from MAC, which is a shimmery bronzey golden peach shade. This does have quite a bit of fallout so make sure to use a flat shader brush and push the product onto the lid, do not swipe it on in windshield wiper motions as you would a crease shade. I also applied this in the inner corners of the eyes for a little bit of sparkle.

Step 1, 2 and 3.

Step 4| Once that is done grab a makeup wipe and remove any fallout from the shadows that may be under your eyes or on your cheeks. Then, we are going to do our foundation and concealer. On the skin I used a tinted moisturizer from MAC, blending it out with my beauty blender. Then, I used the NARS Radiant Creamy concealer in Custard and MAC’s liquid highlighter in Light Boost under the eyes, applying it in an upside down triangular shape. Again, I blended this out with my damp beauty blender.

Step 5| Now that the foundation and concealer are done, I went back and finished the eyes. Use a reddish bronze shade to line your waterline and slightly apply it to your lower lash line. I used a jumbo eye pencil from NYX in Rust.

Step 6| Then I grabbed a matte burnt orange eye shadow color, NARS Persia (I’ve done a review on this shade), and applied it to the lower lash line with a fluffy blending brush, MAC’s 217, which is my favorite! I used this shade to blend out the liner and make it smokey. The rust shade mixed with the matte burnt orange eyeshadow really reminds me of Thanksgiving. You can apply as much of the orangey shade as you want, but I was pretty light handed with it because I didn’t want it to be too dramatic since I’ll be doing a bold lip.

Step 5 & 6

Step 7| Now you can apply lots of mascara or some falsies. I opted for some long fluttery false lashes– the demi wispies from Ardelll- and then applied Lashgasm masscara from Too Faced to blend my lashes with the falsies. I also applied some of this mascara to my lower lashes, but not too much.

Step 8| Now it is time to finish up the rest of your face since the eyes are done. To warm up the skin I grabbed my new favorite bronzer, The Balm’s Bahama Mama, and used a fluffy face brush to apply this in the hollows of the cheeks, temples of the forehead, and on the jawline. I went over it with Gold Deposit from MAC to add a bit more shimmer.

Step 9| I then applied blush, Benefit’s Dallas, above the bronzer. This shade is kind of a burnt rose shade so it will add even more bronziness to the skin. If you have fair skin you could probably even use this as a bronzer.

Step 10| You know a makeup look isn’t complete without some extra glow so I added the Orgasm illuminator from NARS on the top of the cheek bones and blended it out with my beauty blender. I forgot how much I love this illuminator!

Step 11| Last are the lips. I used Cherry Kiss from Rimmel to line my lips and fill them in. Then I applied MAC’s Sin lipstick on top for a dark reddish burgundy lip. Both of these are matte shades so this will ensure your lipstick stays put. If it comes off while you chow down it’s okay because Sin usually leaves behind a sexy berry colored stain.

The completed Thanksgiving makeup look!

You can always apply a browny toned nude lip as well if you don’t want anything too bold. That will look gorgeous as well. I hope you all have a happy Thanksgiving surrounded by friends and family!
