Financial Frenemy • (fəˈnanCHəl frenəmi): One who sabotages your financial budget by causing you to purchase high end items you don’t really need, but convinces you that you literally cannot live without them.
On Wednesday I did a post regarding the best budget beauty buys so today I wanted to focus on a few high end products that I think are worth the money. Welcome to Financial Frenemy Friday part deux, and don’t forget to check out part one!

ABH Contour Kit| You’re probably sick and tired of hearing this because everyone and their mother talks about how great this is for highlighting and contouring, but I must say that I agree with everyone completely! It is a bit pricey at $40, but you do get a lot of colors and considering one bronzer from NARS is $38, this is a great deal! The colors blend out really well and it’s great because you can mix and match the shades to fit what you’re looking for. This kit comes with three matte contour shades and 3 highlighters; two of which are matte and great for under the eyes. One highlighter is pinker, one is yellow based, and the last is a shimmery shade that is great for the tops of your cheeks. The pans are also replaceable so once you use up a particular shade you can purchase the single pan version and pop it into this palette!
NARS Train Bleu| I’ve mentioned this lip color a lot the past few months because it’s just a great fall/winter dark eggplant shade. NARS is pretty expensive, but most of their products, at least the one’s I’ve tried, are really great quality. I’m picky when it comes to lip colors, but this one is a great one to splurge on. It’s pigmented, glides on easily, lasts a long time, doesn’t dry out your lips, and leaves behind a gorgeous stain.
MAC 168 Brush| I generally stick to Real Techniques brushes just because they’re such great quality and very inexpensive compared to MAC brushes. However, I’ve been slowly adding some great staple MAC brushes to my collection and this is definitely a great one! The bristles are very soft and this is great for powder blush or bronzer since it is a large angled contour brush so it is very versatile. If you’re looking to expand your MAC brush collection, I suggest you pick this one up!
Becca Opal Highlighter| I know I already spoke about the ABH Contour Kit, which has highlighters in it, but a girl can never have too many highlighters, right? The past year has really been an “it’s all about the glow” year for me because I never used to like shimmery products, but that has all changed. If you want to add a crazy beautiful warm glow to your skin, definitely pick up this highly raved about beauty product. The consistency and smoothness of this highlighter is beyond amazing and doesn’t compare to anything else. In all honesty it has kind of ruined other highlighters for me because they’re just not buttery and smooth like the one’s from Becca. I’ve done a more detailed review here.
Becca Raspberry Beach Tint| Another great Becca product that is pricey at $24 are their beach tints, but my favorite is the shade in Raspberry. It adds just the right amount of color to the cheeks, and I love this especially during the colder months because my skin tends to become very dry. This is also great because it can be used as a lip color so if you’re in a hurry you can dab this onto the cheeks and lips and look put together.
I know purchasing high end products isn’t for everyone because you can find great things at the drugstore as well, but buying high end makeup is somewhat of an addiction for me. Plus, we should all splurge a bit and spoil ourselves so these are the products I think you should splurge on the next time you want to treat yourself!
What are your favorite high end must haves? Let me know in the comments!
