Glossier Body Hero review

Gettin Bodied: Glossier Body Hero

Getting bodied with the new Glossier Body Hero.

This post introducing Body Hero spoke to me on a deep level because I am 100% that person who spends hundreds (maybe thousands, now?) on skincare for the face, but neglects the other 90% of my skin. That’s probably why the rest of my skin is v dry. Over the past few months I’ve been incorporating more body care products into my routine so I’m glad Glossier released their version. It’s not super expensive–$35 for the duo; 8.4 oz each. And of course the pretty packaging makes taking a shower a little more luscious and indulgent.

The orange blossom neroli blend takes me down memory lane, and reminds me of a childhood scent. Every few summers from the ages of 5ish-12, my mother would drag me to her motherland: Pakistan. And every time we visited, I’d buy a gardenia flower bracelet from a vendor on the street. The orange blossom neroli scent smells exactly like those gardenias to me, and I’m not mad about it. From time to time I can be sensitive to really potent scents, but this blend doesn’t bother me at all.

Onto the products. The Daily Oil Wash is a shower oil that turns into a milky froth as soon as it comes into contact with water. It washes off easily, and leaves behind soft, clean skin, never feeling stripped. The scent doesn’t linger a lot so definitely go in with the moisturizer if you want it to last longer. The only other shower oil I’ve tried is the L’Occitane Almond Shower Oil. It’s been about a year since I used it last (I need to pick it up again), but I remember really liking it. And if memory serves me right then I do believe it turned to a milky consistency as well. The scent of that one was nice, but I do prefer Glossier’s orange blossom neroli blend over it.

The Daily Perfecting Cream is a cream moisturizer that isn’t too thick, but it’s not thin/liquidy either. Moisture wise, it’s not the most hydrating cream ever, but it is moisturizing without being heavy or greasy. You’ll need something thicker and more substantial during the winter if you live somewhere very cold or suffer from dry patches. Since it has mica, this isn’t my go to nighttime body moisturizer because I usually shower right before bed, and prefer to get into it shimmer free. But, I do love using this in the morning, and before going out– especially at night– to give the skin a subtle, reflective, and hydrated glow.

All in all, I would repurchase these because they smell great and do what they’re supposed to do. I hope they make a daytime body cream that includes sun protection since SPF is a big deal to them. My constantly-exposed-to-Texas-sun skin and I would love this even more if it had sun protection.
