Glossier | My First Impression

Skin first, makeup second. Me, last to try everything people love and rave about.

Glossier | My First Impression

I finally caved. Are you surprised? Because I certainly am not. After hearing what feels like millions of ravings and praisings (that’s not a word, but it is for now) about their products, and lusting after their cool New Yorker girl minimal aesthetic that I strive for, but am failing at, I decided to give them a try.

Even though the last thing I need is another cleanser (i.e. see my last skincare haul), I wanted to try the Milky Jelly Cleanser. After all, the name is what lured me in. Milky jelly… what are you?

Basically, it’s a gel cream cleanser that is very gentle on the skin and doesn’t strip away your natural oils or make your skin feel dry and tight. My skin feels nice and clean afterwards, but not squeaky clean– it’s a good thing!

It contains some key ingredients like:

  • Poloxamer, a cleansing agent used in contact lens solution so it’s very gentle on the skin
  • Rosewater, soothes, hydrates, and refreshes the skin
  • Comfrey root extract, which contains allantoin to help prevent stress on skin
  • Aquaxyl, hydrates the skin and limits water loss so your skin retains its moisture
  • Pro-vitamin B5, a powerful natural moisturizer.

This is rose scented because of the rosewater, but the one thing I don’t like about it is the slight chemical under note you get. It smells like rose, but then I get a weird whiff of something chemical. I even asked my sister, and she noticed it too. So, not a huge fan of the scent, but it is a nice cleanser! I will throw in that I still prefer my Boscia Purifying Cleansing Gel, but this is less expensive and still a nice one. I’m hoping I’ll fall in love with it more as I continue to use it.

Next up, the Boy Brow

I love this stuff. If you like a bit of a tint, despise eyebrow hair stiffness, and want your brow to look groomed, but still natural, give this a try. The wand is super tiny so application is easy and mess free, and this keeps your eyebrows in place without making them look like plastic. I used the darkest shade, Black, and find it to be perfect for my brows. Several of the dark eyebrow products I have used have a grey tone to them, which ends up making my eyebrows look ashy– not cute, folks. Not cute.

Overall, I’m a fan of both products, but the Boy Brow is my favorite of the two. I definitely need to try out more of their products both skincare and makeup.

Welcome to the repertoire, Glossier. I’d like a second helping, please.

p.s. I think they’re going to start shipping internationally because I noticed that my cleanser has French (?) on the bottle now. Perhaps they’re shipping to our friends up north soon!
