Okay, okay. I know The Ordinary is kind of on everyone’s shit list right now because of the mercurial in-your-face CEO. But, you have to admit it is an affordable brand. Skincare can be hella expensive and not everyone has deep pockets or is willing to shell out $100 on a serum so I thought another comparison post would be helpful. I purchased their hyaluronic acid serum long before things went past abnormal to downright sleazy so I thought I’d compare their hyaluronic acid serum with Glossier Super Bounce.
Glossier vs The Ordinary | Super Bounce vs Hyaluronic Acid + B5 serum

I don’t think it’s a secret that I really love the Glossier Super Bounce serum. I always mention how it’s one of the serums I actually really enjoy and would recommend picking up because it makes the skin feel soft, bouncy, and plump. So imagine my excitement when I saw that The Ordinary had a Hyaluronic Acid + B5 serum as well. The ingredients aren’t exactly the same, but the two main hydrating ingredients they tout are.
Glossier Super Bounce is a lightweight, but still viscous, serum that sinks into the skin very easily and leaves behind soft, bouncy skin (like the name suggests). Hyaluronic acid can sometimes leave the skin feeling sticky, but this one doesn’t. The only downside to it one is the amount of product you get for the price. It’s $28 and you only get half an ounce, which is quite small compared to most serums that are 1 oz.
How does The Ordinary compare?
The Ordinary’s Hyaluronic Acid + B5 serum is more viscous, and more emollient (leaning on the slimy side), but it leaves my skin feeling sticky. It’s not a huge deal because you’re supposed to let it do its thing and then top off with another moisturizer so the stickiness doesn’t come through. But, it is stickier than the Glossier. On top of being stickier, I don’t feel like it’s as hydrating as the Glossier. When I add this under my moisturizer, it doesn’t really add any extra hydration for me. I love hyaluronic acid serum, but this one just doesn’t hydrate like others do. Compared to Super Bounce you do get more product (1 oz) at an extremely low cost ($6.80) so there is that. But, the formula just doesn’t perform as well nor does it feel as nice.
Out of these two…
I prefer Glossier Super Bounce. It’s not as easy on the wallet, but it does leave my skin more hydrated and soft compared to The Ordinary’s. It feels better on the skin and makes make up glide on really easily. So, if I had to pick one over the other, I’d definitely go with Glossier Super Bounce.
