Hourglass Ambient Strobe Lighting Powder review

Brilliant & Iridescent | Hourglass Ambient Strobe Lighting Powder Review

If you missed out/don’t want to purchase the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit palette, but want that highlighting shade then look no further because they’ve not only released it as an individual strobe shade, but they’ve brought out 3 more Ambient Strobe Lighting powders. I picked up the shade Brilliant, which is a yellow toned powder.

Just like all Hourglass powders, the Strobe Lighting Powders are finely milled and feel so silky. It applies smoothly and isn’t chalky at all. Although it contains shimmer, it doesn’t emphasize my pores and the shimmer is very subtle, which allows for a nice luminosity– that “lit from within” glow. The Hourglass Ambient Lighting powders are very natural, and these are a step up from those because of the added shimmer and sheerer base.

A great thing about these is that you can apply it wet or dry. When applied dry, it is subtle, but apply it wet and it brightens up the still natural highlight. I feel like you could even apply Brilliant under the eyes as a setting powder (if applied dry) since the yellow tinge counteracts redness.

Iridescent Strobe Light is a soft rose shade that I believe would look best on fair skin tones, but I still use it regardless and think it looks beautiful. This shade has more shimmer than Brilliant, but it’s still subtle compared to other highlighters.

The Verdict |

If you’re a highlighter and Hourglass junkie then I definitely recommend these! They cost $38 and the net weight is just a little bit more than their blushes, which are also amazing, and cost $35. If you’ve never tried Hourglass and are expecting the typical super pigmented, shimmery highlighter then your expectations will not be met. These Ambient Strobe Lighting Powders are subtle and great for anyone who wants a natural glow. You can build these up by applying them wet, but they still won’t be super intense. Am I going to be picking up more? YOU BETCHA. Euphoric, I got my eye on you.
