If you asked me 4-5 years ago what my favorite highlighter was, I would have laughed at you. One, I did not believe in the concept of highlighting (or bronzing!), and two, I was all about powders– powder foundation, powder blush (if any), and powder eye shadow. Now, if I’m wearing makeup I cannot go without adding at least a smidge– okay, a tad more than a smidge– of highlighter. Gimme it as a powder, gimme it as a cream, gimme it as a liquid… basically, gimme anything shimmery and I’ll put it on my skin.
Sometime last year (I believe around the holidays), Becca Cosmetics released their Shimmering Skin Perfector Trio, which contained three liquid highlighters– Pearl (permanent), Champagne Gold (LE), and Opal (permanent). I hadn’t tried many liquid highlighters at this point so I thought I would purchase this set and really get a taste of their liquid highlighters.

When I first bought this trio I was on a powder highlighter buying kick at the time so these were kind of pushed to the back of my collection, and would only see the light of day once in a while. However, lately I can’t get enough, and have been using them on a daily basis.
I used to apply these with a BeautyBlender, but found that the highlight would then be too natural for my taste. Then, the Elf small stipple brush came into the picture, and how I apply Becca Shimmering Skin Perfectors changed for the better.

First, I dot the product on the tops of my cheek bones, up to the side of my forehead above my eyebrow in the shape of a “C” and then use the Elf small stipple brush to blend it all in. Since brush is a synthetic duo fiber brush so it blends powder, cream or liquid products into the skin easily.

If you want a more subtle highlight then I definitely suggest the BeautyBlender, but if you’re looking for a brush that will blend the liquid in nicely, but still keep the highlighter intense, I highly suggest the Elf small stippling brush. Plus, it’s only $3 so you can’t go wrong!
