I don’t have the best skin. In fact, you could say I have cruddy skin. I’ve been struggling for years with blemishes and blemish scars that’s why I love it when companies release makeup products that contain good for your skin ingredients. So, even as you cake on the makeup, it’s benefiting your skin in some way.
Juice Beauty Phyto-Pigments Foundation and Primer review

Juice Beauty Phyto-Pigments Foundation*
Key ingredients:
- Organic aloe juice (great for blemish prone skin!!)
- Vitamin E & C
- Rose petal powder
- Argan shell powder
Serum-y foundations are some of my favorites during the spring/summer season because they’re lightweight and thin so they blend out easily. This particular serum foundation has a medium radiant finish that evens out the skin tone, but looks very “I woke up like this #flawless” on the skin.
This range has 10 shades ranging from neutral, pink, yellow and golden undertones so you’re likely to find a shade that matches your skin tone. I personally use the shade 20 Golden Tan, which is for medium skin with golden undertones, and even though I originally thought it might be too dark, it matches when blended onto the skin.
I have some blemishes and scarring, and this foundation does a good job at covering that up. Because it’s lightweight you can add more in the spots you may need more coverage, but it won’t cake up. The best part about this foundation is that it doesn’t flare up any pimples or irritate the skin, and I think that is due to the fact that it contains organic aloe juice (and lots of other organic ingredients), which is very calming for the skin.
Longevity wise, it’s not the longest (lasts around 6 hours on my skin before starting to fade sans primer), but because it’s so lightweight and skin-like, it fades away nicely so your skin still looks even.

Juice Beauty Phyto-Pigments Illuminating Primer*
Key ingredients:
- Organic glycerin
- Coconut alkanes
- Organic aloe juice
- Vitamin C & E
- Witch hazel extract
- Hyaluronic acid
Yes, another illuminating primer to add to my collection ;). This primer is very thin and lightweight so it gives a very natural, healthy glow to the skin. I even like to use this on no makeup days when I still want some glow and hydration.
This isn’t as glowy as some primers, but it’s very hydrating and a great base for foundation. If you apply a matte foundation on top, it keeps your makeup from looking dull or flat and if you apply a serumy, thin foundation (like the Phyto-Pigments Serum foundation) it adds a healthy, natural, glowy dew and doesn’t ever look greasy or oily. Because it’s thin and lightweight, it would be great for oily skin tones as well!
Again, this contains organic aloe juice so it’s great for blemish prone skin and the glycerin allows your makeup to apply smoothly and stay in place. It doesn’t prolong the wear of my foundation enormously, but I notice less fading when I wear this. I’m not one who really expects primers to make my foundation stay on longer by hours and hours, but I expect it to help longevity a little, while prepping my skin and making it smooth and dewy for an even foundation application. Check mark on all of those for this one!
