Lilac and Lavender Loves

Although black is my favorite color, there is something about lilac and lavender hues that I really enjoy during the spring and summer months. Spring will officially be here in a few days so I wanted to share with you all my lilac and lavender loves.

Lip Products| If you want something sheer and natural that leaves a nice stain on the lips, I would try out the Revlon Color Stay Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Darling. I haven’t been able to find this online and I really hope it’s not discontinued because I’m almost out of this product and I use it constantly. It goes on like a nice sheer lavender shade that is slightly glossy on the lips, but then fades to a pinkish “just bitten” stain that I adore. If you’re looking for something more pigmented I would try the OCC Lip Tar in Hoochie. This is a very bright lavender magenta shade that is really vibrant. This shade in particular is supposed to be matte, but I find that it’s not super matte because there is still a bit of sheen and creaminess to it. The only downside to these lip tars is that it can be extremely messy if you use too much product so make sure to use a tiny amount. The last lip product makes me sad, but happy because of the color and the adorable packaging. Lime Crime has been under a lot of heat lately, and I myself will not be purchasing any new products because I really don’t feel right supporting a company that is so shady. However, I purchased Airborne Unicorn about a year or two ago and I’m still going to use it up. I love this because it’s a light pinky lavender shade that has a creamy finish. It is very unique and I absolutely loved this when I went through my purple lipstick phase around the time I bought this. I wouldn’t say the shade is super opaque with one application like Lime Crime says, but after a couple applications it does build up and becomes opaque. Luckily, many companies do purple lilac/ lavender lipsticks now so finding something similar isn’t a hassle like it used to be when I purchased this. I know some people say the NYX Macaron lipstick in Violet is similar, and one from J Cat as well.

Eyeshadow| The only purple eyeshadow shade I really enjoy is MAC’s Stars ‘n’ Rocketswhich is a lilac-lavender-pink veluxe pearl shade. I particularly like this as an inner corner highlight because it’s something unique and different than the usual frosty champagne, gold or silvery inner corner highlight.

Nails| For nail polish I really like Essie’s Bond With Whomever which is a pretty pastel lilac shade with a creme finish. I like to apply two coats of this, which makes it pretty opaque. I don’t really enjoy Essie’s formula as much as other brands like OPI, but this color is just everything during the spring. Another favorite is Rodeo Sweetheart by Urban Outfitters. It is a pinky-lilac creme shade that really stands out. I haven’t found another color like this and each time I wear it I get a lot of compliments. I can’t wait until my nails grow out again so I can file them into an almond shape and wear this! I’m sure I will be addicted to both of these nail polishes during the spring and probably the summer months as well.
