I’ve always been a fan of matte lipsticks on myself. Never did I dare to pick up a lipstick that wasn’t matte or extremely close to having a matte finish– until recently. Now, I’m on a kick for more sheer lipsticks that are moisturizing and have a slight sheen to them.
Marc Jacobs Understudy, which is from his permanent New Nudes Sheer Lip Gel collection, is a terracotta pink shade that is nicely pigmented, yet slightly sheer, and nourishing to the lips. The lipsticks have a gel like formula so they glide onto the lips very easily and does not tug at all.
The Good
- Pigmented, yet sheer
- Magnetic packaging
- No tugging at lips
- Doesn’t accentuate dry patches
The Bad
- Not entirely budget friendly ($30)
- Not extremely long lasting– about 3 hours
The Verdict
The Marc Jacobs New Nudes Sheer Lip Gel in Understudy is very nice, and great for anyone who wants pigmentation, but doesn’t want something with a matte finish. This is also great for anyone who doesn’t want something that’s extremely glossy, but still wants moisturized and nourished lips. Understudy makes your lips look nice and juicy, which I’ve been loving!
