Because my lip liner is poppin. And yours should be too.

Maybelline Color Sensational Shaping Lip Liners
As much as I love high end makeup, I also love finding good quality products that are more affordable. In college, I was constantly perusing through the drugstore aisles to find lipsticks and lip liners and I’m still hoarding a ton of the latter. Maybelline is now offering Color Sensational Shaping Lip Liners* so I wanted to let you know how they fare and share my faves of course.
They have 14 shades and they’re retractable with a built in tip sharpener at the end. All you have to do is slide it out and you can easily sharpen it back up to a point to make lining the lips a lot easier.
all the pretty colors_

_what’s the formula?
They’re pigmented, creamy, and glide on easily and evenly as long as your lips are nice and moisturized with no dryness or flakiness. The only one that I found to be on the drier side was Plum Passion, but the rest are really creamy. I like to apply some lip balm, let it sit while I do my makeup, kiss off the excess and then use these. There’s seriously nothing worse than super dry lip liners that tug on your lips and never give off any color so you just end up roughhousing your lips to death. These are not those.
but will they last?_
These are super long lasting. It was actually hard to remove them with the micellar water I use, and even when I used an oil to remove them the darker shades left behind a stain. I love a lot of the colors, and love to use lip liners all over the lips as a lipstick so these are perfect for that since they’re so long lasting and even make it through a meal with minimal wear and tear. Thee darker shades do wear off a little more in the center after a meal if you’re wearing them alone, but the neutral shades don’t.

_the ones that really caught my eye
My personal faves are Dusty Rose– obviously, I always go for this type of color; Purely Nude– it has some peachiness to it so perfect for spring; Clear– for when I want to use a creamy lipstick or liquid lipstick that feathers a bit; Rich Wine– it is so stunning when you apply a little bit of this shade all over the lips and then blend it in with your finger. It gives the lips a gorgeous diffused stain that I love.
my favorite pairings_
Sometimes a girl just wants to rock a blue lip. I like to pair the Clear lip liner with Midnight Blue to make sure there is no feathering and to keep things more in shape. On a neutral, nude lip day, pairing Dusty Rose lip liner with Born With It lipstick is the go to. Dusty Rose is a little darker so you can “contour” the lips, do an ombre lip, or simply fill the lips in and top it off with Born With It to lighten the lip up a bit. Another great lip pair is Rich Wine lip liner with Rich Ruby. It’ll have you feeling super… rich ;).
