Skincare products to try because I’m officially a skincare junkie

Little do you know that the 2 hours I spent before writing this consisted of me looking for/shopping for new skincare products. I failed miserably because I got overwhelmed by how many things I want to try. And now writing this I realize I already own so many things I still have to try so… basically, I should not be skincare shopping.

New Skincare Bits To Try Because I’m Officially A Skincare Junkie

I love testing out new skincare products, but sometimes it can be daunting since I only have one face. And I don’t want to freak my skin out by using something new all the time. So, slowly, but surely, I’m going to start testing all of these out. Some, I’ve already used a few times, and others I haven’t tried at all just yet, but I’m definitely excited to give them all a go.

Give me hydration

Despite having combo skin that isn’t really dry (apart for a majorly disgusting patch of dry skin on my face months ago), I tend to have a lot of hydrating products. Be it moisturizers or serums, I’m beginning to realize I have a lot of hydrating products. I try not to be too heavy handed when it comes to applying moisture because my skin can easily feel suffocated, which is why I picked up the Drunk Elephant B-Hydra GelThis gel is really nice. I’ve used it a few times, and it’s lightweight and refreshing. If you have really dry skin then I think this would be great for layering under a thicker moisturizer, but if you have combo, normal, or oily skin, I think this would work great on its own. I also picked up the Drunk Elephant Lala Retro Whipped CreamThis is supposed to be ultra hydrating and nourishing since it contains 6 rare African oils. I’ve used this a few times as well, and I love that it comes with a push down pump. It is really moisturizing so I don’t use it every day, but it doesn’t feel thick or heavy on my skin.

I love the Origins Night-A-Mins moisturizer, which I discovered last year and mentioned in my 2016 yearly favorites, so I decided to get the full size when Ulta had a 20% off coupon. I always look out for those discounts and stock up on faves. This is a really great night time moisturizer, and it doesn’t feel super thick or heavy on the skin either. Plus it smells amazing! Mili (Sharmtoaster) always talks about this COSRX Overnight Spa Mask so I also decided to give it ago when I had that 20% off Ulta coupon. I’ve tried this once so far, and it felt really nice on my skin. I did that thing where it’s 3 am and I still can’t sleep so I decide to just pull an all nighter so I will go to sleep early the next night. But I’m no longer a 20 year old college student so around 6 am I start to regret that decision, but have to pull through.. well, I applied this the morning after I decided to stay up all night and it helped bring life back into my tired skin. I can’t wait to use it more.

Because I like a lighter moisturizer, I decided to try out the Dr. Jart Ceramidin Liquid over the cream. I really like this so far. It hydrates, and it’s really lightweight so I love using it morning and night. Another morning moisturizer I picked up is the Grown Alchemist Hydra-Repair Day CreamThey say this is ideal for normal to combo skin as it’s not too thick and feels lightweight once blended out. I’m definitely going to pick up the full size once I run out!

Serums, serums

What is a pressed serum, you ask? I have no idea, but I’m excited to try the Algenist Pressed Serumout so I can find out and report back. A serum that I have tried out and have been loving is the Juice Beauty Blemish Clearing SerumThis stuff is really good if you suffer from blemishes. It has amazing natural, organic ingredients, and it made such a difference to my blemishes within in a couple days. The active blemishes on my chin are all gone, and the scars they left behind are healing faster. I’m seriously so amazed by this.

Exfoliation nation

I picked up this deluxe sample of the Drunk Elephant Babyfacial at Sephora so I could test it out before the spring sale. If I like it, I’m definitely going to purchase the full size. It’s really expensive, but sometimes (a lot of the times) you do have to shell out the big bucks.. we’ll see! You know I love the Boscia cleanser a lot so I’m interested in trying more from their brand. I picked up their Exfoliating Peel Gel since it sounds so interesting. I’ve never used a peel gel before so my ears definitely perked up when I saw those words. I’ve used this twice now and I like it a lot. It makes my skin very soft and smooth. I’m going to be doing a review on this guy so check back for that! I also picked up the Juice Beauty Blemish Clearing Peel when I picked up the serum. I haven’t tested it out just yet, but I’m excited to. If it’s as good as their blemish clearing serum, I know we’re going to be friends for a long time.

Clean skin for all

Terra Luna was super kind to reach out to me and see if I was interested in any of their products. I picked out their Solstice Cleansing Oiland Nectar Instant Foaming Cleanser(along with their Tidal Wave Hair Texturizer*) to try. I’ve used both and I like them both. I use the cleansing oil on days I’m wearing makeup to really melt everything off then I go in with the foaming cleanser to double cleanse and remove everything. I’m generally not a huge fan of foaming cleansers because the ones I have used in the past always dry my skin out, but this one doesn’t. It actually feels really nice and nourishing on the skin, and the duo really help get makeup off easily.

Nudu is a natural skincare brand from New Zealand, and they were kind enough to send me their Cream Cleanser(along with their Gentle Moisturizer,* Reviving Toner*, and Eye Cream*) to try. I haven’t tried this yet, but it sounds amazing and has some great ingredients like pineapple and papaya extracts (plus more) so I can’t wait to test this, and their other products, out.

Masking it

A mask I’m really excited to try is the NIA Sunday Detox Whipped Clay Peel Off Maskit sounds really unique so I can’t wait to see how it works. The team at NIA kindly sent me their whole line to try. They’re available exclusively at Ulta.

p.s. I’ve gotten more skincare bits since I wrote this post so be on the lookout for some more skincare posts from ya girl :)
