Farmacy Green Clean Cleansing Balm Review

Review | The Farmacy Green Clean Cleansing Balm

Who would’ve thunk it? That I would be falling deeply and madly in love with cleansing balms. I’m not someone who likes to spend a ton of money on cleansing because cleansers are only on your skin for a few minutes at best. For me, cleansers should have pretty good ingredients, get my makeup off, and leave my skin clean, but never stripped.

I have combination (leaning toward more normal–hooray) skin so cream cleansers aren’t really my jam. I find a lot of them to just be too much. They’re just too nourishing (I believe that’s called smothering). And a lot of them leave a  film on my skin that I don’t like. That’s why I never thought I’d get along with a cleansing balm. Boy have those feelings changed. Call me a convert because cleansing balms are my new best friend, and this one is the one that started the obsession.

like a piece of warm butter on toast_

If my face were a piece of toast, this would be the warm melty butter. You only need about 1 and a half pea sized amounts (plus a half a pea depending on how much makeup you’re wearing) of this to get all of that makeup off. The second it touches your face, it starts to melt, and spreads so easily and lusciously, but doesn’t feel greasy or thick. I like to massage it into the skin for a few minutes and really work it in before I splash my face Neutrogena-commercial style. Did I mention that it smells heavenly? I love anything that has a citrusy scent because it’s so refreshing and calming. This one certainly perks up my nose buds.

_got milk?

The second you apply water, it turns into a milky consistency. Sounds weird, but I actually really like that. Sure, it can be super messy, but it helps get the product off of your face so there’s no residue left behind. Afterwards, your skin is left clean, soft, nourished, and definitely not stripped. I use white towels to pat my face dry, and even on my full-face-of-makeup days, this doesn’t leave any nasty makeup residue on my towels. I have finally achieved a new level of class– crisp white towels that stay white. If that doesn’t scream “I have my shit together” I don’t know what does. If you told me years ago that I’d start using white towels to dry my face, and that they wouldn’t get dirty with leftover makeup, I would have laughed and shown you my mascara and foundation stained towels. But, I’ve finally done it, and luckily this guy gets all the makeup off in one go.

I realize I used a lot of food analogies when describing this cleansing balm. Maybe because I’m starving right now, but I think it fits because it is called Farmacy after all. Like a farm.. for your face. I am what they call cheesy. I know, another food reference. Damn.
