Some Festival Necessities

I finally went to my first music festival, and although it was so hot my friend was pouring ice down my shirt, it was a lot of fun! Since it was my first festival I didn’t know what to expect when it comes to what I should pack beauty-wise. So, now that I’m back, I’ve compiled some festival necessities that I believe are must haves when it comes to attending an outdoor festival.

Some festival necessities

First and foremost, you need sunglasses! I forgot mine, and ended up having to make a run to Target to purchase some more, but they are definitely necessary– especially if it’s going to be hot and sunny. I forgot to include it in the picture, but SPF is a necessity. You’re going to be outside, most likely in the heat, and SPF is important rain or shine, but you probably already know that!

A hydrating primer that’s not greasy or oily was my best friend when applying makeup. Sometimes I forget to apply moisturizer, and that is one reason why I love the Marc Jacobs Undercover Perfecting Coconut Primer, which I’ve done a review on. It’s not greasy or oily and makes your skin look smooth and supple, while extending the wear of your makeup, which is also important if you’re going to be outside for hours on end.

I don’t know about you, but I fancy myself some bronze skin. However, when I’m going to be outside for a long time I don’t like to wear too many products. This is where MAC’s Give Me Sun bronzer (review here) comes into play. It adds warmth and radiance without chunks of sparkles or glitter, and you can wear it alone without any blush so that’s one less makeup product you need to slather on your skin before trekking in the heat all day.

Going back to chunks of sparkles and glitter, the last thing you want is to wear a super glittery highlighter because you’re going to sweat and the glitter will get all over your face. I like disco balls, but I don’t want my face to be one. That’s why the Hourglass Ambient Lighting powders, or palette, would be a great alternative. It is natural, but still makes your skin look glowy and radiant. Plus, you can set your makeup with them so it lasts longer.

For lips, I was obsessed with the Buxom Full-On Lip Stick in Sydney because it’s pigmented, but creamy and keeps your lips hydrated. It also has a cooling sensation to it so when you’re dying in the heat, it’ll be a nice little refresher.

Nothing feels better than a nice long shower after spending over 10 hours in the heat, which is why skincare is extremely important. I liked to use my Pixi Glow Tonic right before bed. It will help tone the skin, get any extra grime out of your pores, smooth the skin, and it contains aloe vera, which will help calm the skin. Trust me, after ten plus hours in the grueling heat, your skin needs some TLC, which is why I also go in with a spritz of the Mario Badescu Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs, and Rosewater. Aloe and rosewater is extremely gentle and soothing so this spray will really freshen up your skin and feel amazing at the end of the day.

Oh, and here is a video of The Weeknd singing Acquainted featuring my horrible videography skills:
