Tarte Showstopper Palette Review and Swatches

Tarte recently launched their new, limited edition palette in the famous round compact. This is the second round compact palette I own from Tarte. The first one is the Rainforest After Dark palette, which quickly became a favorite of mine so you know I had to snatch this one up before it was no longer available. Even though the last thing I need is a new palette, especially since I just purchased the Tarte Poppy Picnic palette that I’ve done a review on.

The Showstopper palette contains six eyeshadows, one bronzer (Park Ave Princess), one highlighter (Champagne Pink) and one blush (Fame).

Eyeshadows | The palette contains six eyeshadows that are pretty neutral and warm toned: Showstopper Copper (copper brown with silver sparkles), Go For The Gold (soft gold brown with a frost), You’re A Natural (peachy pink brown with a matte finish), Steel the Scene (brownish taupe frost), Rose To The Top (metallic rose toned copper), Dim The Lights (semi-matte dark brown).

All of the eyeshadows are pigmented, blendable, and feel silky. I do think you would need a primer to really make the eyeshadows last, but they last a decent amount of time on their own (about 6 hours) before they start to fade a bit. (P.S. all of the swatches above are just one swipe so you can build it up).

Blush | The blush in this palette, Fame, is a bright peachy coral blush, and you know I love my peach blushes! This is the brightest peach/coral/orange blush I own, and it is a great addition to anyone’s spring/summer makeup arsenal. It is pigmented– much more pigmented than the blush in the Rainforest After Dark palette, and blendable as long as you use a little and build it up. If you apply too much blush at once, blending it out takes some work.

Bronzer | The Park Ave Princess bronzer in this palette is a medium-dark brown that is pretty neutral. It’s not too warm and it’s not too cool so you can bronze and contour with this. The texture is soft and silky. It applies nicely and blends out easily, which makes it easy to use.

Highlighter | The Champagne Pink highlighter is a pink toned white highlighter with a metallic finish. I think this is actually a very beautiful highlighter. I don’t own any pink toned ones so this is a nice change, and even though I have a medium tan skin tone it still looks nice. I like to use this with a fan brush to dust over the tops of my cheeks and add some glow. It blends out easily and it is nicely pigmented so you can sheer it out or build it up depending on how you like to glow.

The Good | Nice everyday colors, palette goes well together, pigmented, great price, great for traveling, blendable eyeshadows, great for spring/ summer.

The Bad | Do need to use a primer to make eyeshadows last longer, not a good palette for a matte eyeshadow lover.

The Verdict | I think this is a great palette overall and it’ll especially be handy for traveling since you’ll have your eyeshadows, bronzer, highlighter, and blush all in one convenient compact. You get a lot of good quality products for a great price ($38). Do you really NEED this palette? No. The colors aren’t super unique, but they are beautiful. If you’re a makeup lover or in the market for a new travel palette then this is a good one to buy, especially for the spring/ summer season.
