The Makeup & Skincare I Majorly Loved in 2017

I loved a lot of products in 2017, but some things stood out from the rest and deserve all the attention. I’m not going to do every single category simply because there are several things I like in each category, but we’re here to talk about the ‘ones’. The ones who I adore and will instantly repurchase the second I run out.

The Makeup & Skincare I Majorly Loved in 2017

SKINCARE.

CAUDALIE GRAPE WATER.

Sometimes the skin just needs something very simple, refreshing, cooling, and calming. That’s this in an aerosol spray bottle. Whenever my skin feels irritated, dry, or needs a bit of refreshing, but I don’t want to use too many actives, I reach for this. It’s a face mist that should be in your collection especially if you have sensitive skin. Another plus is that it’s on the affordable side.

COMPLEX BEAUTY.

I love every single one of their products, but these are the ones that got the most love in 2017 and the ones I need no matter what. Thirst Quencher hydra mask is essential whenever I need something super hydrating to keep dry patches at bay while making my skin plump and more elastic. Pout Protector is my go to lip balm. It comes in an airless pump and has made my lips so so soft. My lips never flake and peel the way they used to before this one. I also feel like over time they’ve made my lips plumper and more pink– a definite bonus in my book. Their Afterglow complexion mist is another go to that I’ve gone through 3 bottles of. It has a bunch of amazing ingredients to gently resurface, add a glow, hydrate, reduce hyper-pigmentation and even offer antioxidant protection.

DR. JART CERAMIDIN LIQUID.

On the days I need a thin veil of moisture, it’s up to this one from Dr. Jart. It’s especially my go to during the summer when I don’t need a heavier dose of moisture. In the winter, it works beautifully as a hydrating serum that can be topped up with something thicker. It always leaves my skin plump, soft and moisturized and is an especial favorite during the daytime.

FARMACY GREEN CLEAN CLEANSING BALM.

Never have I ever loved a cleansing balm so much. It turns milky once it touches water and doesn’t feel greasy or leave a film after washing it off. But, it does melt all the makeup off and washes off easily. Bonus: it smells citrusy. A full review here.

SUNDAY RILEY UFO OIL.

I love this oil so so much. I veered off of it for a while to test other products, but I always make my way back to it when my skin needs some clearing up with a side of nourishment. I mostly use this solo right after cleansing so I can get its full benefits on clean skin.

BOBBI BROWN VITAMIN ENRICHED FACE BASE.

Oh how I can’t stop gushing about this face base. I consider it makeup simply because I always use it as a moisturizing primer before makeup. It makes foundation apply smoothly and makes my skin look so moisturized and nourished without being heavy or greasy. Plus– that citrus geranium scent is my favorite.

CHANEL SOLEIL TAN DE CHANEL.

My HG bronzer. It’s a cream and looks so natural and sunkissed on the skin. It’s my go to bronzer that I use on the daily (if I’m doing my makeup) and for special ocassions. It’s great both on its own and under a powder. A definite and always repurchase.

GLOSSIER GENERATION G LIPSTICKS.

So many of my lipsticks have been rejected since I started using these ones. I love a light wash of color for everyday, but the darker shades are easy to build up when the mood for a bolder lip strikes up. I have all of the shades except for Leo, but my faves have to be Like, Jam, Crush, and Zip.

ETC.

BYREDO GYPSY WATER.

I couldn’t not mention this perfume since it’s my favorite. I use it for special occasions or when I want to feel a little more fancy. It’s pretty unisex, but veers a little on the more masculine side. It’s a complex scent that is fresh, yet deep, and woody. A mé·nage à trois of scent profiles that I’m so into.
