What I Loved vol. 1

A [potentially] monthly installment of a few things I loved.

What I Loved vol. 1

My new glasses.
I can be super spendy– you probably know this?– but eyewear is something I don’t invest a lot of money into for 2 reasons: I lose a l l of my sunglasses eventually, and I normally wear contacts if I’m going out into the world so why spend a lot on regular glasses barely anyone will see? This is basically a long-winded disclaimer so you don’t laugh at the fact that I purchase my everyday glasses from good ol Costco. They don’t have the best eyewear options, but this year (and last year) I ventured over to the men’s side where all the better options live, and picked out some retro gunmetal aviator glasses. At first I reminded myself of Stanley Tucci in The Lovely Bones. But, I love Stanley Tucci (not the character in the book/movie though), so all is well. I’m rocking the 70s porno glasses vibe and loving it.

Jo Malone Wood Sage and Sea Salt.
I got a sample vial of this in a Sephora order, and simply added it to my basket since all the other options were extremely uninteresting. Luckily, Sephora actually included the sample I chose (!! miracles happen !!), and one whiff of this later, I was in love and already ordering a full size. Okay, so I spent some back and forth time trying to talk myself out of picking it up, but a girl is weak. This smells like fresh seaside nature. It’s more unisex and different than the florals I once loved so much. And, one of the top notes is bergamot, which always gives me sexy lumberjack man vibes, and I live for it.

Kypris Clearing Serum.*
Blemishes happen. But, I’m always on a mission to help speed up the process of getting them off my face, and this clearing serum has been a big help. It has a weird color that normally would be off putting, but I slathered it all over my face to do it for science, and it luckily paid off. Even though this has tea tree oil, it doesn’t dry out the skin. Instead, it feels refreshing and helped reduce pimples in just one night so it’s definitely been well loved this month.

Nudu Reviving Toner.*
Toners are probably one of my favorite skincare products simply because they can do a lot for the skin depending on the ingredients. This one from Nudu is very refreshing and has great ingredients like manuka honey, aloe, and witch hazel. It also has some new-to-me ingredients that are native to New Zealand like kawa kawa, which is anti-inflammatory, Harakeke, which helps repair, moisturize, and soothe stressed skin, and pohutukawa, which has astringent qualities and softens, moisturizes, and promotes cell regeneration. The only downside to this is the bottle size. You only get 1.7 oz of this stuff so it is nice to travel with, but I’d love to see a bigger size since it is really nice and can be used up quickly.

Ren Glycol Lactic Radiance Renewal Mask.*
Again, blemishes happen. The blemish part isn’t the part that really gets under my skin; it’s the hyper pigmentation they leave behind that really irks me. Since this mask contains four types of AHAs (glycolic from pineapple; lactic from passion fruit; citric from lemon; tartaric from grape), it’s great for chemically exfoliating away the dead skin and getting rid of acne scars over time. I’ve been using this once a week, and so far it has helped brighten, and doesn’t burn or hurt when I apply it. Ten minutes, once a week, is all you need for this one to get its job done.
