During elementary school I used to live for the Scholastic Book Fair. You know, the one where they would set up tons of books (and stationary) in the library so us kiddos could go and shop around. I was the girl who was there everyday before and after school buying books and other book related accessories.. yup, that was me. 10+ years later, not much has changed. If any store has a stack of books, you can catch me browsing… and buying.

The series that has my current attention is The Selection Series by Kiera Cass. This is a young adult/ dystopian romance series, and it’s a really easy read. I finished the first book in about four hours in one go so it’s not difficult at all. Now, this isn’t a literary gem, but it’s a nice book nonetheless. I’m currently on the third book of the series (there are 5 books available), and so far it’s kept my attention! I’ve never watched The Bachelor/Bachelorette, but it has that sort of vibe to it. If you like young adult books with love triangles, princes, and dystopian settings then this book will satisfy your needs. Warner Bros. did purchase the rights to this series so it’ll probably end up playing out on the big screen as well.
Something quite different from The Selection in terms of reading level and writing style, but still regal, is Wars of the Roses: The Fall of the Plantagenets and the Rise of the Tudors by Dan Jones. I haven’t gotten very far in this book, but it is based on history, and was described as being a real life version of Game of Thrones… that’s all it took to get me to buy it. If you’re a book lover and history buff like me, this will check both boxes for you as well.
The third book on my nightstand that I’ve just barely dug into is Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. Even though I’m not a huge zombie fanatic, this sounds like the perfect twist on a classic. They did make a movie based on this book, but I wasn’t able to get around to the theater to watch it (so sad!). It’s definitely on my list of movies to watch! The main character is played by Lily James, and I loved her in Downton Abbey and Cinderella so I’m excited to watch it!
