Kiko Watercolor Eyeshadow 208 worth the hype?

Worth The Hype? Kiko Watercolor Eyeshadow 208

If you’re a highlighter junkie like me, you’ve probably heard of the limited edition highlighters MAC Whisper of Gilt and Estee Lauder Heat Wave that caused a huge frenzy in the makeup community. These two light gold highlighters have been so sought after that so many people have been on the search for a dupe that is more easily available and won’t cost an arm and a leg.

The Kiko Watercolor Eyeshadow 208 ($14) is a light gold eyeshadow that has been compared to MAC Whisper of Gilt and Estee Lauder Heat Wave numerous times. I don’t own either highlighter because I missed out on them, but I’ve seen so many pictures comparing this shade to them, but is it worth the hype?

The texture is nice and smooth so it doesn’t apply chalky or uneven, which is a great thing in my book. It is sparkly, but there aren’t any huge chunks of sparkle in it. It also has a slight iridescent shimmer running through it, but only if you examine it intensely close.

You can easily build this up for an intense highlight, especially if you apply it wet, or apply just a little for something more subtle.

The only downside is that Kiko doesn’t have many store locations, especially in the US, so the easiest way to get ahold of it is online if you don’t live near one. I love shopping online, but sometimes, especially if you’re not familiar with a brand, you want to be able to shop and swatch before making a purchase.

The Verdict |

Yes!

I personally love this more as a highlight whether applied on the cheekbones or inner corner of the eyes instead of all over the lids like an eyeshadow. But, however you use it, it is very pretty and I can see why everyone raves about it. I do wish I had MAC Whisper of Gilt and Estee Lauder Heat Wave to compare it to, but since this is a supposed dupe for it, I’m glad I have it in my life!
