If there’s one blush you’ve heard about, regardless of whether or not you’re a makeup junkie, it’s probably NARS Orgasm blush. It’s their most well-known blush, and is considered a classic.
Sometimes when a product is over-hyped, it can cause you to have very high expectations, and the product will either satisfy your makeup cravings or let you down. I’ve tried some makeup products that are over-hyped in my opinion — i.e. Gerard Cosmetics lipsticks & the YSL Touche Eclat Blur Perfector— and I’ve been let down.
I got this deluxe sample size of NARS Orgasm in a little NARS sample pack at Sephora. Shockingly, I’ve never owned this blush before! It’s a pretty peachy pink shade with a gold shimmer running through it. This color is a universally flattering shade and the shimmer isn’t chunky so it adds a radiant highlight to the skin.

The texture of this powder blush is very soft, creamy and finely milled. It’s not chalky or powdery so it blends into the skin easily. The pigmentation is nice, yet subtle, and since it’s so blendable, you can build it up or sheer it out depending on your preference. The wear of this is long lasting too. It lasted on my skin anywhere from 7-8 hours depending on the weather and what I was up to that day.
The Verdict |
Yes and no. I think this is a good blush for newbies because it’s a shade that flatters most skin tones and types. It’s a no fuss blush so if you just don’t know what blush to get, this is a good place to start. Plus, the shimmer adds a glow so if you’re not really into highlighting, this is a good two in one. It is:
- Pigmented, but subtle
- Blendable
- Goes with most makeup looks
- Adds a golden peachy warmth to the skin
- Long lasting
- Good quality
However, if you have a lot of blushes then I don’t really think this is worth the hype. It is a beautiful blush, but it’s not life changing.
Many people say ELF’s bronzer/blush duo in St. Lucia is a dupe for NARS Laguna bronzer and Orgasm blush; I’ve owned that ELF duo before, but I don’t think the quality compares at all. Orgasm is much smoother, pigmented, and blends easily in my opinion. The ELF duo I had wasn’t very pigmented nor was it soft so it didn’t blend out easily.
Overall, if you’re going to splurge on a high end blush, this wouldn’t be my first recommendation.
